Socialist Workers' Party (Greece)
The Socialist Workers' Party (Greek: Σοσιαλιστικό Εργατικό Κόμμα, Sosialistikó Ergatiko Kómma, SEK) is a Trotskyist political party in Greece. It is affiliated with the International Socialist Tendency (IST), led by the British Socialist Workers Party.
The SEK was founded in 1977. Its politics are based on revolutionary Marxism, aiming for the overthrow of capitalism and the establishment of a socialist society through working-class revolution. The party is active in various social movements, including anti-racist campaigns, anti-fascist groups, labor organizing, and student activism.
The SEK publishes the weekly newspaper Ergatiki Aristera (Εργατική Αριστερά, Workers' Left) and operates a publishing house called Epanastatiki Vivliopoleio (Επαναστατικό Βιβλιοπωλείο, Revolutionary Bookstore).
While never having held seats in the Hellenic Parliament, the SEK participates in national and European elections, primarily to promote its political program and build support for its revolutionary socialist ideas. The party has historically supported electoral alliances with other left-wing groups.
The SEK actively participates in international anti-capitalist forums and conferences organized by the IST and other like-minded organizations. It is one of the most prominent Trotskyist groups in Greece.
