Charlie Rose (politician)

Charlie Rose (born August 10, 1939) is an American politician from the state of North Carolina. He served as a Democratic U.S. Representative for North Carolina's 7th congressional district from 1973 to 1997.

Rose was born in Fayetteville, North Carolina. He received a B.A. from Davidson College in 1961 and an LL.B. from the University of North Carolina School of Law in 1964.

Prior to his election to Congress, Rose practiced law in Fayetteville. He was elected to the House of Representatives in 1972 and served for twelve terms. During his tenure, he served on the Agriculture Committee and the House Administration Committee. He chaired the Subcommittee on Department Operations, Research, and Foreign Agriculture of the Agriculture Committee. He was also active in efforts to support agricultural research and promote international trade.

Rose did not seek re-election in 1996 and retired from Congress in January 1997. After leaving Congress, he returned to practicing law.
