Linatella

Linatella is a genus of predatory sea snails, marine gastropod mollusks in the family Fasciolariidae, the spindle snails and tulip snails.

Linatella species are found in tropical and subtropical waters of the Indo-Pacific region. They are characterized by their fusiform (spindle-shaped) shells, often with distinct spiral ridges and a relatively long siphonal canal. They are carnivores and feed on other marine invertebrates, typically polychaete worms.

The genus Linatella is sometimes considered a subgenus of Fasciolaria. The taxonomy of the Fasciolariidae family, including the precise relationships and classification of species within Linatella, has been subject to revision and debate among malacologists. Further research, including molecular studies, may be required to fully clarify the relationships within the genus and the family as a whole.

Several species have been assigned to the genus Linatella, though the validity and current placement of some species may vary depending on the taxonomic database consulted. These species typically share morphological similarities in their shell structure and habitat preferences.
