Viewtiful Joe (TV series)
Viewtiful Joe is an anime television series based on the video game franchise of the same name, developed by Capcom Production Studio 4. The anime was produced by Group TAC and premiered in Japan on TV Tokyo from October 2, 2004, to September 24, 2005, running for 51 episodes.
The series follows the adventures of Joe, an avid movie fan who is transported into Movieland by Captain Blue, his favorite movie hero. Captain Blue bestows upon Joe the V-Watch, which allows him to transform into Viewtiful Joe and wield special VFX Powers such as Mach Speed, Slow, and Zoom.
As Viewtiful Joe, Joe fights against the evil Jadow organization, led by Dr. Cranken, who are attempting to rewrite movie history and conquer Movieland. Along the way, Joe is joined by his girlfriend Silvia, who becomes Sexy Silvia after receiving her own transformation device. Together, they battle Jadow's various villains and uncover the mysteries behind their plans.
The anime expands upon the lore and characters of the video game series, providing more backstory and developing new storylines. While retaining the game's signature visual style and over-the-top action, the anime also incorporates elements of humor and character development.
The Viewtiful Joe anime has been dubbed and broadcast in several countries outside of Japan, including the United States, where it aired on Kids' WB. It has also been released on DVD. The series is noted for its energetic animation, catchy music, and faithful adaptation of the video game's spirit. The ending of the series differs from the storyline of the second video game, Viewtiful Joe 2.
