Miguel Martínez (wrestler)
Miguel Martínez (born January 29, 1982) is a Mexican professional wrestler, known primarily for his work in Lucha Libre AAA Worldwide (AAA) and various independent promotions. He is best known under the ring name Abismo Negro Jr., a character revival of the deceased wrestler Abismo Negro. He is also known under other ring names such as Electroshock Jr. and Black Abyss.
Martínez began his professional wrestling career in the early 2000s. He initially performed under various masked identities before being presented as the "Jr." version of prominent luchadors. His run as Electroshock Jr. saw limited success.
In 2011, he was introduced as Abismo Negro Jr. following the death of the original Abismo Negro in 2009. The character is a rudo (villainous) persona, often employing underhanded tactics in matches. Martínez has engaged in feuds with various AAA wrestlers while portraying the character, attempting to continue the legacy of the original Abismo Negro.
His portrayal of Abismo Negro Jr. has met with mixed reception from wrestling fans, some criticizing the use of the name and character after the original wrestler's passing. Despite this, Martínez continues to perform as Abismo Negro Jr. in AAA and other promotions. His wrestling style typically incorporates a mix of high-flying and power moves, in line with the lucha libre tradition.
