Cupid (1998 TV series)

Cupid is an American romantic comedy-drama television series that aired on ABC from September 26, 1998, to February 20, 1999. Created by Rob Thomas, the series starred Jeremy Piven as Trevor Hale, a man who believes himself to be Cupid, banished to Earth by the gods of Olympus until he can make 100 couples fall in love. Paula Marshall co-starred as Dr. Claire Allen, a psychiatrist who treats Trevor and initially believes him to be delusional.

The show centered around Trevor's unconventional methods of matchmaking and the skepticism of Dr. Allen, who grapples with the possibility that he might actually be who he claims to be. Each episode typically featured a new couple that Trevor attempts to bring together, often employing outlandish and sometimes intrusive tactics. The series explored themes of love, fate, and the nature of belief.

Despite critical acclaim and a dedicated following, Cupid was canceled after one season due to low ratings. The show was praised for its witty writing, strong performances, and unique premise. A remake of Cupid, starring Bobby Cannavale and Sarah Paulson, aired on ABC in 2009 but was also short-lived.
