Ex Models

Ex Models was an American noise rock band formed in Brooklyn, New York City, in 2001. The core of the band consisted of Zach Hill (drums) and Shahin Motia (guitar and vocals). Throughout their career, they also featured a rotating lineup of bassists.

Known for their abrasive, highly energetic, and experimental sound, Ex Models blended elements of noise rock, math rock, and no wave. Their music was characterized by Motia's angular guitar riffs, Hill's aggressive and technically proficient drumming, and often screamed or spoken vocals. The overall effect was chaotic yet precise, generating a sense of controlled frenzy.

The band released several albums and EPs, including "Other Mathematics" (2002), "We Were the Best of Times" (2003), and "Chrome Panthers" (2005). They gained a following for their intense live performances, which were known for their raw energy and improvisational elements.

Ex Models disbanded in 2007. Zach Hill went on to further success as a member of the experimental hip hop group Death Grips, while Shahin Motia pursued other musical projects. Despite their relatively short lifespan, Ex Models left a lasting impact on the noise rock scene and are remembered for their distinctive and challenging sound.
