Centerfold (group)
Centerfold was a Dutch pop music group, most popular in the early to mid-1980s. The group was known for its sexually suggestive lyrics and performances, often considered provocative for the era.
The band's core members included Rowan Moore (lead vocals), Renée Bergwerf (keyboards, vocals), Cecile Sinclair (bass), and Laura Vlasblom (drums). The group achieved international success with their hit single "Dictator" in 1981, which was followed by other moderately successful songs. Their music generally fell into the new wave and synth-pop genres.
Centerfold's image played a significant role in their popularity. They cultivated a glamorous and assertive persona, often incorporating elements of fetish wear and overtly sexual choreography into their stage shows and music videos. This image garnered both attention and controversy.
After several years of touring and recording, Centerfold disbanded in the late 1980s. The individual members pursued various other projects within the music industry and beyond. While not currently active, their music remains available and is occasionally featured on retro music playlists.
