Byculla
Byculla is a neighborhood located in South Mumbai, India. It is one of the seven original islands that formed Bombay. Historically, Byculla was an industrial area and a prominent residential district for Parsis and Anglo-Indians.
The area is known for its historic architecture, including the Gloria Church (Our Lady of Glory Church), Masina Hospital, and the Byculla Railway Station. The Dr. Bhau Daji Lad Mumbai City Museum (formerly the Victoria and Albert Museum) is also located in Byculla. The Veermata Jijabai Bhosale Udyan and Zoo (also known as the Byculla Zoo) is a major attraction, housing various animal species and botanical gardens.
Byculla has undergone significant redevelopment in recent years, with new residential and commercial projects emerging alongside older buildings. It remains a diverse and vibrant part of Mumbai, reflecting its historical significance and ongoing urban transformation. The area is well-connected to other parts of the city by road and rail networks.
