Butterfly (1982 film)
Butterfly is a 1982 American independent neo-noir crime drama film directed by Matt Cimber, based on the 1947 novel of the same name by James M. Cain. The film stars Pia Zadora, Stacy Keach, and Orson Welles. The plot revolves around the incestuous relationship between Jess Tyler (Keach) and his daughter, Butterfly (Zadora), and the suspicion that Butterfly may be responsible for a series of murders in their small Nevada town.
The film received significant negative critical attention and is often cited as a notable example of a poorly received film. Zadora's performance and the film's plot were widely criticized. Despite its critical failure, it garnered some attention due to the controversy surrounding its themes and the involvement of established actors like Welles. It was nominated for several Razzie Awards, including Worst Picture, which it won. Zadora also won Worst Actress and Worst New Star.
