Bedfont
Bedfont is a suburban area in the London Borough of Hounslow, West London, England. It is situated north of Feltham and south of Heathrow Airport.
Historically, Bedfont was a parish within the Spelthorne hundred of Middlesex. The name is believed to derive from "Bedan ford," meaning the ford of a man named Beda, referring to a crossing point over the River Crane which flows through the area.
A notable landmark in Bedfont is St. Mary the Virgin Church. The churchyard is famous for its two yew trees, which are said to have been planted in the early 18th century and are trimmed into the shape of peacocks. This unique feature has become closely associated with the village.
Bedfont remains primarily residential, offering a mix of housing styles. The area is served by several schools and local shops. Its proximity to Heathrow Airport means that many residents are employed in the aviation industry or related sectors. Transport links include bus routes and access to nearby railway stations, including Feltham.
