I'm Off Then (film)

I'm Off Then is a 2015 German biographical adventure film directed by Julia von Heinz. The film is based on the autobiographical book Ich bin dann mal weg (English translation: I'm Off Then: Losing and Finding Myself on the Camino de Santiago) by German comedian and actor Hape Kerkeling.

The film recounts Kerkeling's journey on the Camino de Santiago pilgrimage route in Spain after experiencing a physical and spiritual crisis. Burned out and suffering from gall bladder issues, Kerkeling decides to take a sabbatical and walk the ancient pilgrimage.

The film stars Devid Striesow as Hape Kerkeling. It portrays his physical and emotional challenges along the way, as well as his encounters with various fellow pilgrims, and his eventual rediscovery of himself. I'm Off Then explores themes of faith, self-discovery, and the importance of slowing down in a fast-paced world. The film was a commercial success in Germany.
