Bob Ojeda
Bob Ojeda (born January 17, 1957) is a former Major League Baseball left-handed pitcher. He played from 1980 to 1994 for the Boston Red Sox, New York Mets, Los Angeles Dodgers, Cleveland Indians, and New York Yankees.
Ojeda was known for his finesse and control, relying on breaking balls and location rather than overpowering velocity. He was a key member of the 1986 World Series champion New York Mets team, starting Game 3 of the series. He also pitched well for the Red Sox during the early 1980s.
Ojeda's career was tragically affected by an accident during spring training in 1993 when his team's boat struck a submerged pier, resulting in serious injuries to himself and the death of teammate Steve Olin. Ojeda recovered and pitched again in the major leagues, but his career was ultimately shortened by the accident. After his playing career, Ojeda worked as a baseball analyst for television.
