Fred Ryan
Fred Ryan is an American media executive. He is best known for his role as the former publisher and CEO of The Washington Post, a position he held from September 2014 to August 2023. Prior to his tenure at The Washington Post, Ryan served in various roles in government and the private sector.
Ryan worked in the Reagan Administration, serving as Assistant to the President for Private Sector Initiatives, and later as Director of the Office of Private Sector Initiatives. He has also held executive positions at Allbritton Communications Company and Politico.
During his time at The Washington Post, the publication experienced significant digital growth and expanded its national and international reach. He oversaw a period of increased investment in journalism and technology. After leaving The Washington Post, Ryan became the CEO of the Ronald Reagan Presidential Foundation and Institute.
