Optimus Prime is a central and recurring character in the Transformers comic book mythos, typically depicted as the wise and compassionate leader of the Autobots in their struggle against the Decepticons. In the original Marvel Comics Transformers series (US and UK), Optimus Prime's origin is tied to the creation of the Transformers themselves, being a descendant of the original thirteen Transformers created by Primus.
