Bob Ellis (cricketer)

Bob Ellis (born Robert Charles Ellis on October 4, 1937, in Glebe, Sydney, New South Wales, Australia, died July 6, 2021) was an Australian cricketer who played first-class cricket for New South Wales between 1957/58 and 1969/70. A right-arm fast-medium bowler and a useful lower-order batsman, Ellis was known for his stamina and accuracy. He was a consistent performer in Sheffield Shield cricket, often opening the bowling for New South Wales. He took 225 first-class wickets at an average of 26.10. His best bowling figures were 7 for 61 against Queensland in the 1961/62 season. While he was on several occasions considered for national selection, he never represented Australia at Test level. After retiring from first-class cricket, Ellis remained involved in the sport as a coach and administrator.
