National Police Computing and Material Service (Norway)
The National Police Computing and Material Service (Norwegian: Politiets IKT-tjenester - PIT) is a Norwegian police agency responsible for providing information and communication technology (ICT) services and materials to the Norwegian Police Service. Its primary function is to develop, operate, and maintain the IT systems and technological infrastructure necessary for the police to perform their duties effectively. This includes, but is not limited to, systems for case management, crime analysis, resource allocation, and communication. PIT is also responsible for the procurement, management, and distribution of police equipment and materials, ranging from vehicles and uniforms to specialized technical equipment. The agency plays a crucial role in the modernization and digitalization efforts of the Norwegian Police, aiming to improve efficiency and effectiveness in crime prevention, investigation, and response.
