Floriade (Canberra)

Floriade is a large annual flower and entertainment festival held in Canberra, Australia during springtime (typically mid-September to mid-October). It is one of Australia's premier horticultural events and a significant tourist attraction for the Australian Capital Territory (ACT).

The festival showcases an extensive display of flowering bulbs and annuals arranged in themed garden beds within Commonwealth Park, situated on the shores of Lake Burley Griffin. Millions of flowers are planted each year, creating a vibrant and colorful spectacle.

In addition to the flower displays, Floriade incorporates a diverse program of entertainment, including live music, horticultural workshops, cooking demonstrations, art exhibitions, and children's activities. Food and beverage vendors offer a wide range of culinary options.

A key feature of Floriade is its evolving theme, which changes annually. This theme often reflects contemporary issues, cultural celebrations, or historical anniversaries, informing the design of the flower beds and the program of events.

NightFest is a separately ticketed event held during Floriade, extending the festival's operating hours into the evening. NightFest features illuminated flower displays, live entertainment, and a vibrant atmosphere.

Floriade attracts hundreds of thousands of visitors each year, contributing significantly to the ACT's economy and cultural vibrancy. The event is organized by the ACT Government.
