Don't Fence Me In (Lari White album)
Don't Fence Me In is the fourth and final studio album by American country music artist Lari White. It was released in 1996 by Lyric Street Records, a short-lived Disney-owned label.
The album represented a departure from White's earlier, more traditionally country-oriented sound, embracing a more pop-influenced and adult contemporary style. This shift in musical direction was driven in part by White herself, who sought greater creative control over her music.
The album's title track, "Don't Fence Me In," is a cover of the Cole Porter classic, originally popularized by Gene Autry and Roy Rogers. White's rendition offered a contemporary take on the song.
While the album received generally positive reviews, it did not achieve the same commercial success as White's previous albums. No singles from the album charted on the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart. The album featured songs co-written by White, showcasing her songwriting talents alongside contributions from other notable songwriters. "Ready, Willing and Able" was notably co-written with Chuck Cannon.
Following the release of Don't Fence Me In, Lyric Street Records was dissolved, and White subsequently took a hiatus from recording before pursuing other musical projects independently.
