Belgenland (1878)

The Belgenland was a transatlantic passenger liner built for the Red Star Line. Launched in 1878, it primarily operated on routes between Antwerp, Belgium and New York City, carrying passengers and cargo. It was known for its relatively luxurious accommodations for the time, catering to both first-class and steerage passengers. The ship played a significant role in transporting European immigrants to the United States. It was later sold and renamed several times before being scrapped. The Belgenland (1878) is historically significant as a representative vessel of the era of mass transatlantic migration.
