Mark Scott (radio host)

Mark Scott is an Australian radio presenter and executive, best known for his long tenure at the Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC). He served as the Managing Director of the ABC from 2006 to 2016. Prior to his role at the ABC, Scott had a distinguished career in education and journalism.

He began his career as a teacher before transitioning to journalism, working for publications like The Sydney Morning Herald and The Australian Financial Review. His roles included education reporter and opinion columnist.

During his time as Managing Director of the ABC, Scott oversaw significant changes, including the expansion of digital services, the launch of new channels (such as ABC News 24 and ABC3, now ABC ME), and the introduction of iView, the ABC's on-demand video streaming service. He also navigated the ABC through periods of political scrutiny and funding pressures.

Following his departure from the ABC, Scott took on the role of Vice-Chancellor of the University of Sydney in 2016, a position he held until 2021. He remains a prominent figure in Australian public life, contributing to discussions on media, education, and public policy.
