Seán Keane (Irish politician)
Seán Keane (born 1947) is an Irish Independent politician. He served as a Teachta Dála (TD) for the Galway East constituency from 2011 to 2016.
Keane was first elected to Dáil Éireann at the 2011 general election, unseating Fianna Fáil TD Noel Treacy. Prior to his election to the Dáil, he was a farmer and a member of Galway County Council, representing the Loughrea local electoral area. He was known for his strong focus on rural issues and agricultural concerns.
In the Dáil, Keane served on various committees and participated in debates on topics ranging from agriculture to local government reform. He was often outspoken on matters affecting his constituency.
Keane lost his seat at the 2016 general election. He subsequently contested the 2019 local elections but was unsuccessful in regaining a seat on Galway County Council. Since leaving national politics, he has remained involved in local community initiatives and advocacy.
