God's Country and the Man (1937 film)
God's Country and the Man is a 1937 American action film directed by Robert N. Bradbury and starring Tom Keene, Betty Compson, and Maston Williams. The film is a remake of the 1931 film of the same name and is loosely based on the novel God's Country and the Woman by James Oliver Curwood. The plot revolves around a lumberjack, Tom Keen, who fights against a ruthless timber baron, Bart Peters, and his gang to protect the forests and help the local community. The film features typical elements of Western and action genres, including fistfights, chases, and a love interest in the form of Betty, played by Betty Compson. It was released by Monogram Pictures. While not considered a major cinematic achievement, it is representative of the low-budget Westerns popular in the 1930s.
