Vaudreuil (federal electoral district)

Vaudreuil is a federal electoral district in Quebec, Canada, that has been represented in the House of Commons since 2004. It encompasses the western portion of the Vaudreuil-Soulanges Regional County Municipality.

Geography and Demographics:

The riding is primarily suburban and rural, located west of Montreal. It includes the municipalities of Vaudreuil-Dorion, Les Cèdres, Pointe-des-Cascades, Rigaud, Terrasse-Vaudreuil, Vaudreuil-sur-le-Lac, L'Île-Cadieux, L'Île-Perrot, Notre-Dame-de-l'Île-Perrot, Pincourt, and a portion of Saint-Lazare.

The population is diverse, with a mix of francophone and anglophone residents, as well as a growing number of allophones. The area has experienced significant population growth in recent decades due to its proximity to Montreal and relatively affordable housing.

History:

The electoral district was created in 2003 from parts of Beauharnois—Salaberry and Vaudreuil—Soulanges ridings. It was first contested in the 2004 federal election. The boundaries have been adjusted slightly in subsequent electoral redistribution exercises.

Political Representation:
