ArcticNet
ArcticNet is a Network of Centres of Excellence of Canada that brings together scientists and managers in the natural, human health and social sciences with their partners from Inuit organizations, northern communities, federal and provincial agencies and the private sector to study the impacts of climate change and modernization in the Arctic. Established in 2003 and initially funded until 2018, ArcticNet fosters collaborative research addressing key scientific and societal challenges facing the rapidly changing Arctic environment. The network supports a wide range of interdisciplinary research projects across the Canadian Arctic and provides training opportunities for students and young researchers. ArcticNet's research focuses on understanding the complexities of Arctic ecosystems, assessing the vulnerability of northern communities to climate change, and developing strategies for sustainable development and adaptation. The network's headquarters are located at Université Laval in Quebec City, Canada. A key component of ArcticNet's operational capacity is the CCGS Amundsen, a research icebreaker that facilitates scientific expeditions in the Arctic.
