Anticapitalist Left (Italy)
The Anticapitalist Left (Italian: Sinistra Anticapitalista, SA) is a Trotskyist political organisation in Italy. It is a section of the Fourth International.
Founded in 2008 through a merger of several smaller far-left groups, the SA defines itself as a revolutionary, anti-capitalist, and internationalist organisation. Its political positions include opposition to neoliberal globalization, support for workers' rights, ecological sustainability, and social justice. It advocates for radical social change through popular mobilization and class struggle.
The Anticapitalist Left has participated in various social movements and political campaigns, including those against austerity measures, environmental degradation, and racism. They have also been involved in electoral politics, often forming alliances with other left-wing parties and groups. Their electoral performance has been modest, generally achieving only small percentages of the vote in national and regional elections.
The organisation actively promotes solidarity with international struggles and supports revolutionary movements around the world. They maintain close ties with other sections of the Fourth International and participate in its global activities.
The SA is structured around local branches and national leadership bodies. It engages in political education and theoretical discussion within its ranks. The organisation publishes newspapers and journals to disseminate its ideas and analyses. Its historical influences are primarily from the tradition of Leon Trotsky and the Fourth International.
