Hongpu
Hongpu refers to a geographical area and administrative district within the city of Nanchang, Jiangxi Province, China. Specifically, it's commonly used to denote Honggutan New District (红谷滩新区, Hónggǔtān Xīnqū), although technically "Hongpu" itself isn't an official administrative name.
Honggutan New District is a relatively new development area of Nanchang, established in the early 2000s to serve as the city's new central business district (CBD). It's characterized by modern architecture, wide boulevards, residential complexes, shopping malls, and government buildings. The district sits on the west bank of the Gan River, opposite Nanchang's older, more established urban areas.
While "Honggutan New District" is the official term, locals often colloquially refer to the area as simply "Hongpu." This shorthand usage can sometimes lead to confusion, as there's no officially recognized "Hongpu" administrative division. Understanding the context is crucial to interpreting the term correctly. It's generally safe to assume that when someone says "Hongpu" in relation to Nanchang, they are referring to Honggutan New District.
