Rob Deer

Rob Deer (born November 7, 1960) is a former Major League Baseball outfielder known for his prodigious home run power and exceptionally high strikeout rate. Deer played for several teams during his 11-year MLB career, including the Milwaukee Brewers (1986-1990), San Francisco Giants (1991-1992), Boston Red Sox (1993), San Diego Padres (1993), and Detroit Tigers (1995-1996).

Deer gained notoriety for his "three true outcomes" approach to hitting – a focus on home runs, walks, and strikeouts, largely bypassing singles and doubles. While his batting average was typically low, he regularly hit 20 or more home runs per season and often drew a significant number of walks, leading to respectable on-base percentages despite the low batting average.

Deer's most productive seasons were with the Milwaukee Brewers. He was a fan favorite due to his towering home runs and colorful personality. Although he never attained All-Star status, he was a consistent power threat in the American League during his prime. After his playing career, Deer worked as a hitting coach for several MLB organizations.
