Colin Jones (priest)

Colin Jones (born 1942) is a retired Anglican priest and theologian known for his contributions to the field of pastoral theology and practical theology. He served as the Principal of St David’s College, Lampeter (now part of the University of Wales Trinity Saint David) from 1989 to 1999.

Jones was educated at Jesus College, Oxford, and later at St Stephen's House, Oxford, preparing for ordination. He was ordained as a deacon in 1967 and as a priest in 1968 in the Diocese of Oxford.

His ministry included curacies and incumbencies in various parishes before his appointment to St David's College. While Principal, he oversaw significant developments in the institution's theological programs and its integration into the wider University of Wales system.

Jones’s theological work focuses on the practical application of Christian theology to contemporary issues, particularly those faced by individuals and communities within the church. He has written extensively on topics such as reconciliation, conflict resolution, and the role of the priest in modern society. His publications include scholarly articles and contributions to edited volumes exploring the intersection of theology and pastoral care.

Since his retirement, Jones has remained active in theological circles, contributing to conferences and workshops, and continuing his writing and research.
