Abbeyhill
Abbeyhill is a district in the city of Edinburgh, Scotland, located to the east of the city centre. It lies at the foot of Arthur's Seat and is bordered by Holyrood Park to the south, Easter Road to the north-east, and Regent Road to the west.
Historically, Abbeyhill was a separate village, but it was gradually absorbed into the expanding city of Edinburgh. The name "Abbeyhill" derives from its proximity to Holyrood Abbey.
The area is primarily residential, consisting of a mix of traditional tenement housing and more modern developments. It is a popular residential area due to its proximity to the city centre, its green spaces, and relatively affordable housing compared to some other central Edinburgh districts.
Notable landmarks in or near Abbeyhill include Holyrood Park, Arthur's Seat, and Meadowbank Stadium (although the original stadium was demolished and rebuilt). The area also offers a variety of local shops, restaurants, and pubs. Abbeyhill has good transport links, with regular bus services to the city centre and other parts of Edinburgh.
