HMS King George V (1911)

HMS King George V was the lead ship of the King George V-class battleships built for the Royal Navy in the early 1910s. She was commissioned in 1912 and served during World War I. As a member of the Grand Fleet, she saw action primarily in the North Sea.

King George V participated in the Battle of Jutland on 31 May – 1 June 1916, where she engaged German battlecruisers and battleships. While she fired extensively, she sustained minimal damage.

After the war, King George V underwent modernization and continued to serve in the Royal Navy. She was eventually decommissioned and sold for scrap in 1926, as part of the Washington Naval Treaty limitations on battleship tonnage. The King George V class represented a significant step forward in British battleship design, featuring improved armament and protection compared to their predecessors.
