Anthony Evans (basketball)

Anthony Evans is an American basketball coach and former player. He is currently the head men's basketball coach at Norfolk State University, a position he has held since 2007.

Prior to his tenure at Norfolk State, Evans served as an assistant coach at several universities, including Delaware, Southern Methodist University (SMU), and Miami.

As a player, Evans played college basketball at St. Thomas Aquinas College, where he was a standout guard.

At Norfolk State, Evans has led the Spartans to multiple Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Tournament championships and NCAA Tournament appearances. He is known for his coaching acumen, particularly his emphasis on defense and player development. His most notable achievement at Norfolk State was leading the team to a historic upset victory over second-seeded Missouri in the 2012 NCAA Tournament.
