Ron Widby

Ron Widby (born March 9, 1945, in Knoxville, Tennessee, died March 9, 2017, in Lewisville, Texas) was an American professional football player and professional golfer.

Widby was a punter in the National Football League (NFL) and a forward (small forward) in the American Basketball Association (ABA). He played college football and basketball at the University of Tennessee. As a punter for the Volunteers, he set several records and was recognized as an All-American. He was drafted by the New Orleans Saints in the 1967 NFL Draft and also played for the Dallas Cowboys and Washington Redskins. Widby played in the NFL from 1968 to 1973 and was selected to the Pro Bowl in 1968. He was also a member of the Dallas Cowboys team that won Super Bowl VI.

Following his NFL career, Widby pursued a career in professional golf. He joined the PGA Tour in 1975 and competed for several years. He had multiple top-10 finishes and was known for his powerful drives. He left the PGA Tour in the late 1970s.
