Bob Ford (American football)

Bob Ford (born August 19, 1937) is a former American football coach. He served as the head football coach at the University at Albany, SUNY from 1970 to 2013, compiling a record of 265–147. Ford is recognized as one of the most successful coaches in NCAA Division III history and later transitioned the Albany program to the Division I Football Championship Subdivision (FCS) level.

Ford began his coaching career as an assistant at Linton High School in Schenectady, New York, and later served as an assistant at the University of Rochester. He took over the Albany program in 1970 and quickly built a winning tradition. Under his leadership, Albany won several conference championships and made multiple NCAA Division III playoff appearances. He was known for his offensive prowess and ability to develop players.

Ford was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame in 2014. His tenure at Albany is notable for its longevity and the significant impact he had on the university and its football program. He retired after the 2013 season, leaving behind a legacy of success and dedication.
