Yujiazui
Yujiazui (陆家嘴) is a prominent financial and commercial district located in the Pudong New Area of Shanghai, China. Situated on the eastern bank of the Huangpu River, directly opposite The Bund, it is recognized as a major financial hub of both China and the world.
History and Development:
Prior to the 1990s, Yujiazui was primarily farmland and low-rise residential areas. Its transformation began in 1993 when the Pudong New Area was designated as a special economic zone, and Yujiazui was specifically chosen to become a financial center. Extensive urban planning and investment led to the rapid construction of skyscrapers, office buildings, hotels, and shopping centers.
