Maderuelo is a municipality located in the province of Segovia, in the autonomous community of Castile and León, Spain. It is situated in the northeast of the province and belongs to the Comarca de Riaza.
History: Maderuelo has a rich history dating back to Roman times, although its strategic importance grew significantly during the Middle Ages. It served as a border town between the Christian and Muslim territories, leading to frequent conflicts and fortifications. The town walls and castle bear witness to this turbulent past. In the 11th century, it was reconquered by Alfonso VI and repopulated. The area prospered during the medieval period, largely due to its strategic location and agricultural activities.
