Anna Case

Anna Case (1888-1971) was an American operatic soprano and concert singer. Born in Clinton, New Jersey, she gained significant recognition for her performances at the Metropolitan Opera in New York City, where she was a leading soprano from 1909 to 1920.

Case's repertoire encompassed a wide range of roles, including Micaëla in Carmen, Marguerite in Faust, and Nedda in Pagliacci. She was particularly admired for her vocal purity, stage presence, and dramatic interpretation.

Beyond her operatic career, Anna Case was a popular concert artist, touring extensively throughout the United States and Europe. She also made numerous recordings, preserving her voice for future generations.

Later in life, she married Clarence H. Mackay, head of the Postal Telegraph and Cable Corporation, and became known as Anna Case Mackay. She remained involved in philanthropic and artistic endeavors until her death. Her legacy endures as a significant figure in the history of American opera.
