Dimefline
Dimefline is a xanthine derivative with reported respiratory stimulant properties. Its mechanism of action is believed to involve stimulation of the respiratory center in the brainstem and possibly some bronchodilatory effects. Dimefline was previously used in the treatment of respiratory depression and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). It is not currently widely used and may not be available in many regions. Information regarding its clinical efficacy and safety is limited compared to more modern respiratory medications. Its use has largely been superseded by other, more effective and safer respiratory stimulants and bronchodilators.
