Animal Logic (band)

Animal Logic was a jazz-influenced art rock trio formed in 1987. The band consisted of Deborah Holland (vocals, guitar, songwriting), Stanley Clarke (bass guitar), and Stewart Copeland (drums). Clarke and Copeland had previously worked together in the band CURVED AIR many years prior.

Animal Logic released two studio albums: their self-titled debut album, Animal Logic (1989), and Animal Logic II (1991). Their music blended elements of pop, rock, jazz fusion, and world music. Deborah Holland was the primary lyricist and brought a pop songwriting sensibility to the technically proficient playing of Clarke and Copeland. The band toured extensively in support of their albums.

Despite critical acclaim and the members' individual reputations, Animal Logic did not achieve widespread commercial success. The band disbanded after the release of their second album. All three members subsequently returned to their solo careers and other projects.
