Ward Edwards (politician)

Ward Edwards (born June 3, 1925, died August 10, 2007) was an American politician and educator from Missouri. He served as a Democratic member of the Missouri House of Representatives from 1956 to 1960 and the Missouri State Senate from 1960 to 1984, representing the 28th District.

During his tenure in the Missouri State Senate, Edwards served as President Pro Tem from 1977 to 1980. He was a strong advocate for education and played a significant role in shaping education policy in Missouri. He championed legislation concerning school funding and teacher training.

Beyond his legislative career, Edwards was also a professor of political science at Central Missouri State University (now the University of Central Missouri). He held a Ph.D. in political science from the University of Missouri.

After retiring from the Senate, Edwards remained active in public life, serving on various boards and committees. He was a resident of Kansas City, Missouri, at the time of his death.
