Aminata Touré (Senegalese politician)

Aminata Touré (born 12 October 1962) is a Senegalese politician who served as Prime Minister of Senegal from September 2013 to July 2014. She is also known as "Mimi Touré."

Touré's career has largely focused on issues of justice and social development. She holds a PhD in International Development and Law from the University of Bremen in Germany. Before entering Senegalese politics, she worked for the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA).

She served as Minister of Justice under President Macky Sall, during which time she spearheaded efforts to combat corruption and impunity. In September 2013, Sall appointed her Prime Minister, making her the second woman to hold that office in Senegal.

As Prime Minister, Touré focused on implementing the government's development agenda, including improvements in infrastructure, healthcare, and education. Her tenure was marked by efforts to promote good governance and fight corruption.

Touré resigned as Prime Minister in July 2014, following the ruling Alliance for the Republic (APR) party's defeat in local elections in Dakar. She subsequently served as a Special Envoy of the President of the Republic.

In 2022, she was a leading candidate for President of the National Assembly but was ultimately not selected for the position. She later publicly disputed the results of the 2022 legislative elections and resigned from her seat in the National Assembly.
