John Blofeld (judge)

John Blofeld (1891-1976) was a British barrister and judge who served as a High Court judge in Hong Kong from 1950 to 1965. He was born in Birmingham, England, and educated at King Edward's School, Birmingham, and Trinity College, Cambridge. He was called to the bar in 1915 and practiced law in England until his appointment to the Hong Kong High Court.

Blofeld presided over numerous significant cases during his tenure in Hong Kong, including criminal trials, commercial disputes, and land cases. He was known for his meticulousness, fairness, and deep understanding of the law. He retired from the bench in 1965 and returned to England.

Blofeld was also the father of the noted sinologist and translator John Eaton Calthorpe Blofeld, better known as John Blofeld, whose work focused on Taoism, Buddhism, and Chinese philosophy.
