Rutongo
Rutongo is a sector in the Rugarika cell of the Ntongwe sector within the Ruhango District of Rwanda's Southern Province. It is known primarily for its tin mines, which have been a significant source of economic activity in the region. The Rutongo Mines have a long history dating back to the colonial era, and continue to be an important contributor to Rwanda's mineral production. The area surrounding the mines is primarily rural, with agriculture and small businesses also playing a role in the local economy.
