Tricked (film)
Tricked is a 2013 Dutch thriller film directed by Paul Verhoeven. The film is notable for its unusual production method. Verhoeven started the screenplay based on a short opening scene he conceived. He then held a public competition, soliciting submissions for the rest of the script from writers around the world via the internet.
The submitted scripts were then reviewed and selected by Verhoeven and his team. The final script was a collaborative effort built upon elements from numerous contributors. This experimental approach to filmmaking, designed to explore the possibilities of crowd-sourced storytelling, made the film a unique case study in film production.
The plot revolves around a successful businessman, Remco, who is tricked into a situation that unravels his personal and professional life. While ostensibly celebrating his 50th birthday, a series of events and betrayals plunge him into a web of intrigue and suspicion. The film explores themes of infidelity, corporate corruption, and the fragility of social standing. Tricked aims to question trust and loyalty in a modern context.
