Pierowall
Pierowall is a village located on the northwest coast of the island of Westray, in Orkney, Scotland. It is the main settlement on the island, containing the ferry terminal that connects Westray to Kirkwall on the Orkney mainland and other Orkney islands.
Historically a fishing and crofting community, Pierowall now serves as a service center for Westray, with shops, a post office, a bank, a community hall, a hotel, and other local businesses. Tourism is also a significant contributor to the local economy.
The Pierowall Bay is known for its sandy beach and views across to Papa Westray. The village offers access to various archaeological sites and natural attractions on Westray, including the Noup Head cliffs, a renowned seabird colony. The Westray Heritage Centre in Pierowall provides information about the island's history and culture.
