HMS Padstow Bay (K608)
HMS Padstow Bay (K608) was a Bay-class anti-aircraft frigate of the British Royal Navy. Built by William Pickersgill & Sons in Sunderland, she was launched on 21 July 1944 and commissioned on 9 May 1945.
Part of the final group of Bay-class frigates, HMS Padstow Bay was designed to provide air defense for convoys and fleets during the latter stages of World War II. She was armed with a variety of anti-aircraft guns, including 4-inch guns and smaller caliber weapons like the Bofors 40mm gun.
Following commissioning, HMS Padstow Bay saw limited active service in wartime due to the surrender of Germany shortly after her completion. Post-war, she was placed in reserve and eventually scrapped in 1959. As with many Bay-class frigates, her service life was relatively short due to the rapid technological advancements in naval warfare in the years following World War II.
