Three Little Wolves (film)

Three Little Wolves is a 1936 animated short film directed by Dave Goulding and produced by Walt Disney Productions, released as part of the Silly Symphonies series. It is a sequel to the more famous Three Little Pigs (1933), and continues the story with the same core characters.

The film follows the three little pigs, who are now older and have built sturdy brick houses. However, the Big Bad Wolf has fathered three equally menacing wolf cubs. These cubs are as eager to capture the pigs as their father once was. The pigs are initially successful in warding off the young wolves using clever traps and devices.

The Big Bad Wolf, feeling inadequate due to his sons' failures, intervenes. He demonstrates his original strategies for blowing down houses (which he has seemingly forgotten how to do initially). He attempts to capture the pigs using his established methods of disguise and trickery.

Ultimately, the pigs thwart the wolves' attempts, and the Big Bad Wolf and his cubs are defeated, albeit in a non-violent manner. The film concludes with a somewhat humorous resolution where the pigs seemingly "reform" the wolves through a form of discipline and positive reinforcement, turning them into well-behaved members of society. The humor relies on the irony of pigs attempting to teach wolves about morality.

Three Little Wolves retains the musicality and visual style characteristic of the Silly Symphonies series, featuring catchy tunes and detailed animation. While not as iconic or influential as its predecessor, Three Little Pigs, it remains a notable entry in the Disney animated canon and a continuation of a popular fairy tale adaptation.
