Freaks (Qoph album)

Freaks is the second full-length studio album by the Dutch alternative rock band Qoph. It was released in 2004 on the Rough Trade Records label. The album marked a significant shift in Qoph's sound, moving away from their earlier, more psychedelic and sprawling compositions towards a more streamlined and hard-rock influenced style. "Freaks" features heavier guitar riffs, a more prominent rhythm section, and generally shorter, more concise songs compared to their debut. Thematically, the album explores themes of alienation, societal outsiders, and personal struggles. The artwork for "Freaks" also reflected this change in direction, featuring a stark and unsettling image compared to the more surreal and fantastical art of their earlier work. Although not a commercial breakthrough, "Freaks" is considered by many fans to be a pivotal album in Qoph's discography, showcasing their versatility and willingness to experiment with their sound.
