Alex Alves (footballer, born 1975)
Alex Alves (born Alessandro Alves do Nascimento; December 30, 1975 – November 14, 2012) was a Brazilian professional footballer who played as a forward.
Alves began his professional career in Brazil, playing for clubs such as Portuguesa and Juventude. He gained wider recognition playing for Cruzeiro, where he won the Copa do Brasil in 1996.
In 1999, Alves moved to Europe, joining Hertha BSC in the German Bundesliga. He became known for his goal-scoring ability and established himself as a key player for the Berlin club. He played for Hertha until 2003.
After his time in Germany, Alves returned to Brazil and played for several clubs, including Fluminense, Vitória, and Atlético Mineiro. He also had a brief spell in Greece with Kavala.
Alves earned a single cap for the Brazilian national team.
He died on November 14, 2012, in Jaú, Brazil, due to complications from leukemia.
