Aeroport (Moscow Metro)
Aeroport is a station on the Zamoskvoretskaya Line (Line 2) of the Moscow Metro. It is located in the Aeroport District of Moscow, named after the nearby Khodynka Aerodrome (Moscow's first airport). The station opened on September 11, 1938, as part of the second stage of the Moscow Metro expansion.
The station's design is notable for its Art Deco architecture, featuring pylons faced with dark Armenian marble and decorated with aviation-themed bas-reliefs. These bas-reliefs depict various aircraft and figures associated with aviation, reflecting the area's historical connection to the airport.
Aeroport is a deep-level station, situated approximately 35 meters (115 feet) below the surface. It has two vestibules connected to the platform by escalators. The station serves as a crucial transportation hub for residents and visitors in the Aeroport District and provides access to surrounding areas.
